Deleted and reinstated my Gmail account on the iPhone and it works now. As with most things, I blame @codinghorror.

Not enjoying using my iPhone as an iPod - it takes too many clicks to pause music when someone comes over to my desk to talk to me.

Yeah! I'm getting a trio. Wish it was an iPhone, but this is still a HUGE step in the right direction.
